Cez & Richard: Will, are you retroperitoneal like the rectum or mesenteric like the sigmoid colon?
Will: I'm mesenteric like the small intestine.
Richard: [indistinct noise of amusement]
Will: Yeah, we're on the same wavelength.
[generates "impressed" faces from the other medicvets as understanding dawns]
Cez: That long? Could we stretch him across the DR?
Richard: Yes, but he needs cash on the table.

Well, the Vet in the group was being remarkably normal at this point in time, and being nonplussed/unamused by our highly academic humour.
We also learnt something:
Will: The diaphragm is supplied by the phrenic nerve, right?
Sarah: Right. C 3, 4, 5 keeps the diaphragm alive!
Richard: And S 2, 3, 4 keeps your shit off the floor!!
That is indeed one way of remembering the nerve supply of levator ani.

Fun, but I don't trust it... after all, I've had to be aware that C 5, 6 and 7 keep the diaphragm alive... dogs are somewhat different, it seems.
765 keeps the doggie alive
OR
567 keeps the diaphragm from heaven
And the rest of the dog from heaven too, I'd assume - I wonder about levator ani's nerve supply now...
