A brief apology to the bug lovers...

I am very sorry the giant spider ended up squished and unidentified.

But seriously, that thing was HUGE.

As apology, have some pictures of slightly less scary bugs. I took these photos purely because I saw them and thought they were pretty. They're up here now because I've just finished my annual phone-picture harvest and figure someone could give me a decisive identification on what they are. :)
I can imagine my mother's response to this one.
Something along the lines of "less scary, my arse"

Apology accepted.

The second one is easy, that's the commonest of the Orb-Weaver family in the UK, the Garden Spider. This one's a female. You can tell by the large arse.

etwcma!

Ps. Am working on the moth.

Right, that's an Emerald moth. One of the Geometrinae. Not sure what type yet.

I think one of the Nemoria sub-group.

Check them out.

And this one's for you: ftapf!

"Ftapf" sounds like it describes Nightcrawler having some alone time...

That photo of the spider is amazing! And you took it with your phone?

Hope the knee is getting better!
