So, following on from the news before Christmas that my dog has terminal cancer... I find out that so does a person I know. Doctors have given him 3-4 months to live, and for want of better words since I can't think of any, it's absolute fucking shite and shouldn't be happening.
If you didn't go to school with me you probably won't understand how wrong it seems to imagine the place without Mr. Paul Wilkins. He's been there since my second or third year and is in charge of the school library, which is (or at least was, when I was there) a very popular place for students to spend free time reading or getting homework done, and a good part of the appeal would have been the chats with Mr. Wilkins. If you need evidence of this, I should point out that very few teaching staff anywhere in the UK put themselves on the Bebo network for the sake of keeping contact with pupils, and few if any of these acquire the same kind of fan club that he has.
On a more personal level, noticing a student doubting their own abilities and placing the idea - through just one small thing you say - that they Could... it's pretty special. I don't doubt that he's had a huge impact on the lives of other students as well, and that many of them, like me, consider him a friend.

The Man is, was and will continue to be a legend, never has a more intelligent, down to earth, and inspiring man worked in that school. He always did more than what was needed, and has the best sense of humour!
