"Why 'kittypups'?"
I think, having finally found one of the two pictures that inspired the "kittypups" name, and to put some kind of a stop to the constant explanation of said name, I'll explain the fairly simple story here.
A few years ago (I think I was about 13 at the time) I was in a newsagent's in Donegal scanning the "international" paper section. Obviously Donegal imports more diverse tabloids than the typical Derry shop, because I found the Weekly World News for the first time.
For those who are not aware, this is a paper containing many amazing articles with all the authenticity of the average Elvis sighting.
Anyway, it was an "Animal World Special", and inexpensive, so I couldn't resist.
One of the few stories that stayed with me permanently from it (besides the "Do Animals Believe In God?" story with a photo of a wild gorilla supposedly in prayer) was the story of the new half-dog, half-cat creatures that had been created by scientists researching gene splicing, or something that would probably sound impressive to the average Elvis-spotting redneck.
These animals would, naturally, be the ultimate pet, and would be released into the market in a few years' time. There were two types, called simply "A" and "B". I can't remember which was which, but one type was described as "the head of a dog on the body of a cat", and naturally vice-versa for the other.
The article (and a quirky part of my personality that until then had been relatively dormant) was made complete by the two extremely badly-Photoshopped pictures showing Type A and Type B animals.
What were these animals?
Kittypups.
I thank you.
