I feckin' hate English weather.

It poured down for pretty much all of today. And not just heavy, downward rain - the wind made it come down sideways, and the heaviness of the rainfall made it bounce back on to you after it hit the ground. Grrragh.

Amusingly, although I have a large umbrella (courtesy of Gerard and Silvia), and had it with me any time we were walking around outside, Tom-the-guy-in-charge found subtle ways not to stand under it. Bear in mind that this was during rain so heavy that the addition of a bottle of shampoo would let you have an effective shower outside - what is it with men and umbrellas?!

Later, when cleaning out the indoor weaner pens and listening to the radio, a song with a noticeable amount of screaming came on the radio. Tom said, "Ooh, I like this song. I think it's Linkin Park. I like them, Linkin Park. And Maximo Park, too."

I did wonder for a moment if I'd heard him right - Tom's silver-haired and soft-spoken, and generally really does not seem like the type (also I was unconvinced that it was Linkin Park, since there wasn't nearly enough synth and DJ/MC stuff compared to what I remembered). He then went on to chat happily about Glastonbury and V-Fest, the Killers, etc., while I smiled and nodded along and generally wished I'd been to interesting music events too. And then the radio DJ confirmed that the song had in fact been by Linkin Park.

What can I say; sometimes people surprise you.
