... and, in a surprising twist, I find that I've just applied to work at St. John's May Ball the night after Trinity Ball.
[ducks to shouts of "traitor!" and flying punt poles]
I did consider applying as security, but, to be honest, I don't think I'm imposing enough. The pay may be worse, but I'm less likely to be trampled as a "general Ball worker". And it's £30 an hour (I think... "Payment: £30" doesn't make much sense, nor does it explain whether it's £30 per hour or per entire event).
It does mean that I get free entry to the ball, although obviously most of that will be dedicated to running around doing "general work". I get 2 hours off during the shift (5.15pm Tuesday 20th to 6.00am Wednesday 21st) but I might be more inclined to sleep than enjoy the Ball during those 2 hours...
I guess the real reason for applying is the fact that I want to be earning money (damn Cambridge workload) and this is one of the few jobs students of the university are actually encouraged towards. Probably because it's at the end of the year.

Blaise's birthday formal! Woo!
I tried to take some photos but my cheap-ass substitute camera refused to take any. Kind of annoying... also the group ended up having to separate because a bunch of people sat down in the middle of the long table, leaving spaces big enough for half the group on either side of them. Rahhh. Bad people.
Then when we left to go to the bar, TomBooth showed up and killed Wanted Criminal Blaise.
At her birthday party.
Bad Tom. Bad.
He bought her a drink afterwards, after sufficient guilt-tripping and a kick in the shin. From me, not from Blaise - she seemed happy enough after dying, but definitely a bit more so when receiving her cider. ;)
Burrell's ent was also pretty interesting, even if it did end at midnight (although, from being in my room at one point while the ent was going on outside, I can see why this might be desirable for anyone attempting to sleep in a Burrell's room).
Blaise and Andrew stood up for themselves quite well when a Porter tried to make them stay away from my room... I'll say no more on that, and wait for them to remember and make a comment. :D
We need to get Andrew schwallied more often. One of the rarest groups of people in the world are the ones who really are entertaining in many ways while drunk (as compared to the vast numbers of drunkards out on a Friday who think they are being witty and showing roguish charm when really they're being obnoxiously loud and rude).
But yes, it was a fun night. :D

I have to run - food... the eyeliner thing will be up soon, I'm just trying to think how best to write it.
