It's been quiet on here

... due to the fact that there are things I want to write up but haven't the time to do until rotations intro week ends (Friday afternoon).

Part of the reason for the sudden plunge back into every-moment-booked territory was my spending the weekend on a short trip home to see Kathryn make her First Communion - hopefully my presence was appreciated, even if I didn't bring Han-Ley with me (who is obviously much more exciting a visitor, possibly due to his not having lived there for years, possibly due to his obvious enjoyment at acting like a complete eejit and the resultant funny noises).

here's a picture so she can say she was mentioned on my blog... :)

Leaving at 4.30am on Saturday and returning at midnight on Sunday, with typical working weekdays on either side of that, effectively meant having no definite free time since about last Wednesday (plus a nice thought-fog on Monday until I could get to bed again).

I can't say it wasn't worth it*, but I do have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of the bits and pieces mentioned on the intro tours may not stick with me until September. Then again, it's difficult to know whether that wouldn't have happened anyway...

-----

*Definitely was - if not for the time with family etc., then for watching Louise keeping an increasingly-disgusted running tally of just how much money Kathryn had been given.

Oh, if only I was Irish and Catholic. The first communion sounds like a right money spinner! The girl was talking about hers, left her absolutely loaded, so I was wondering about the ethics of "converting", finding a load of rich people to get communioned (?word) in front of, then disappear back to England and my life of heathenism with a pocket full of Euros and never speak to them again...

Probably very dubious ethically on reflection, but that's never stopped me before... ;)

I'm sure she'll appreciate being mentioned on your blog!
You didn't seem too out of it on Monday so I commend you. I think most people are better at coping with sleep deprivation than me, to be honest

Sorry Nick - you only get loads of money if you're wee and innocent :(

I can say this because of seeing someone convert as an adult and getting their first communion and confirmation on the same day - by the logic of the way those two events work out for children, in combining them she should have been able to buy a house by the end of the day.

I don't think she got more than a nice dinner out of it.
