my internet connection sucks.
Do I do like, a round-up thing now? I think I'm supposed to, but they always sound horribly forced...
Christmas was... good... and we all got lots of cool presents... and then...
Screw that. Okay. Starting over.
---
The Christmas break's been pretty enjoyable, all-in-all - once again I've failed to have much contact with anybody outside my family (yes, even through MSN - a surprising proportion of the chat has been Gerard asking me from the kitchen if I'd like to come down for tea), but considering I hadn't seen them since the middle of August, I don't exactly begrudge my family the time.
That said, a large chunk of this time has been spent alone in my room, which by consequence seems to be taking on more of a supervillain-secret-lair atmosphere the more time I hide out in there. I even have a massive, black (p)leather Bond villain chair - all I need is a white cat and a slightly more motivated attitude and I'm sorted...
Of course, even a budding Bond villain can be tempted out by New Year's Eve celebrations. This time around, the typical extended family gathering took on a more decidedly Irish flavour than I can remember from any other year. This was mostly due to the live traditional music session my younger uncles (plus talented lady-guest) were providing, but was probably helped along the rocky road to Irish stereotypes by the aunt who insisted we could stay out here in the garage and listen for the countdown on the radio - she then proceeded to tell people that it "isn't time yet, it hasn't been announced yet, stop counting!" until someone pointed out that it was already five past midnight and she'd been listening to the CD instead of the radio.
Hope everyone else brought in the New Year in style, one way or another.
Tomorrow, I visit Letterkenny for the big sales; the itinerary then presumably follows as buy some things, have some tea, go home, panic about bank balance, panic about wasted study time, then finally retire to bed feeling somehow better (perhaps even proactive) for doing so even though no obvious action has been taken to redress either problem.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
Happy January 2008, everyone. :)
