At home...

... and babysitting.

So, naturally, now is the time to update, since the only way to get any break from Louise and Kathryn is to be left in charge of them. That may sound like bullshit, but the strange truth is that being given such power is the only thing known to cause an immediate switch from me being tailed everywhere I go (so closely that I've been stepped on once or twice) to me having the kitchen entirely to myself while they go off and be suspiciously quiet in other rooms of the house.

I can't decide if that's actually preferable to the way things usually are. The peace and quiet is enjoyable, but I've had to get up and check on them several times in the past half an hour just to make sure they aren't trying to use a potter's wheel on Kathryn's bed like they did a few days ago.

...

Having checked, they're actually just sitting quietly on the sofa (one reading and one playing the DS). Unbelievable.

Anyway, the trip home from Cambridge was fairly uneventful, and the drive to my uncle's was a lot shorter than I'd anticipated from previous experience (satellite navigation thingies are excellent - I want one once I finally get around to getting a car).

I'd spent the night before saying goodbye to my room in typical end-of-year style - a group of us making sure all the leftover alcohol didn't go to waste. Unfortunately, since I only got about 4 hours' sleep afterwards, I got something approaching a proper hangover (I don't normally get hungover due to my body's wonderful ability to sleep until all the worst effects have gone - a glass of orange juice later, and I'm fine). My parents picked up on this and told my uncle, who greeted me with a few gleeful questions such as, "Do you remember those times I was hungover and you were about Kathryn's age, and you ran about screaming..." and proceeded to hit me around the head a few times for vengeance.

Oh well. I'm home now, and have been to a barbecue (the fact that it was on our back patio doesn't matter - Gerard set it up and invited people, therefore it wasn't me having a BBQ) and a club I've never been to before. I don't know if I'll be back to the club, but if I do, I'm going to be wearing less, and no, it's not what you think. ;) The place was so overheated I ended up drinking about 3 pints of water while I was there, and it's very difficult to enjoy dancing when your jeans seem to be melding to your legs.

Also, Derry weather is weird. But you probably knew that.

I'd better go - taking Kathryn to the park while it's still sunny. :)

You sound like you're enjoying being back, glad to hear it! What your uncle said made me laugh for a while.

Love to all!
