How will I survive? (and similar over-dramatic phrases of the blogger stereotype)

In a few hours I'll be headed for Donegal (Derrybeg, Gweedore, to be precise) to spend 2 weeks in a place with practically no internet connection, apart from one public computer about 10 minutes down the road from where we'll be staying.

Hm. I actually do love being in Donegal. I just hate being cut off.

Anyway. Since Celery's finally been informed (by a phone call from each of us, and how can I describe her reactions but OMFG LOL) I can probably include in this post that I'm going out with Steve McCann now. :)

Hopefully should be headed back up to Newry for a few days' visit after getting back from Donegal, if the folks are amenable. I've promised to watch something I can best describe as a "wrestling thing", so this could be interesting. :P

Warning: topic jump and rant coming up
Has anyone ever watched Pollyanna? I would advise against it. It tells the story of a little girl with a posher voice than certain people we know (and she's a proud little American - how is this accent possible?) who arrives in a quiet and fairly grumpy town, and from the moment of her arrival begins spreading sunshine and love, brings all the inhabitants together into a true community by her example, sings "Oh Holy Land Of Liberty" (or whatever that I-love-my-country song is called) while all the townspeople look on with sappy smiles, and continues being generally sickly-sweet until falling out of a tree and paralysing her legs.

Well, to be fair, I'm not sure that she fell out of a tree. It might have been a window. It involved an "AAAAAAAAAIIIIIIiiiieeee *thump*" sound effect, anyway.

When, understandably, she feels a bit down about the fact she may never walk again, all the people she has helped come along to her room "to let her know how much she is loved".

WHAT??

I was watching this film for all of five minutes before I wanted to strangle her... then again, child actors are just generally annoying.

Or maybe I'm just cynical.

Great, make it sound like I hired a gigolo, why don't you...

[wonders if capitalised "or confirm" was meant as a subtle subliminal message to self]
